Butterfly Bakery in Lincoln, Nebraska is a high volume, fast paced bakery dedicated to making the best cakes & pastries in town while providing a welcoming, respectful environment for our customers and employees.
We hire skilled makers, bakers, artists, and designers who want to be a part of a fun and respectful team who enjoy sharing tasty treats with everyone who visits the bakery.

We expect people who work here to do their part during those harder seasons – including overtime work – sos that we can properly capitalize on these opportunities as they arise.
We strive to make sure we are on the higher end of pay scales for similar jobs in Lincoln – with the goal for wages to increase and not become stagnant.
Tips are pooled and shared across all bakery staff based on hours worked.

This position is a great way to get your foot in the door in the bakery world. This position will serve as an assistant to our bakers and cake decorators – and will provide you with a foundation to begin your career in food service! We are looking for someone who is motivated, hard-working, and ready to add to already great team!
This position is essential to the efficiency of our kitchen. The following duties are the responsibility of the Kitchen Assistant.
DISHES: Kitchen Assistant is responsible for washing and putting away dishes from both bakers and decorators throughout their shift.
LAUNDRY: The Kitchen Assistant should ensure there are always clean rags, aprons, and mop heads available at the start of each day by completing laundry cycles throughout the day.
PACKING ORDERS: The Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for accurately packaging and labeling orders for each day. Additionally responsible for packaging boxes for the grab and go case and ensuring it stays well stocked.
PREP WORK: The Kitchen Assistant should prepare cupcake pans and cake pans for bakers by spraying and/or adding liners. They will be responsible for pre-folding cake boxes for decorators, and assembling mini cupcake boxes for back stock.
CLEANING: Kitchen Assistant should round up and take out trash at the end of each shift (or as needed). Other cleaning tasks, such as washing appliances, racks, and other bakery tools should be completed as time allows.
OTHER TASKS AS ASSIGNED BY GENERAL MANAGER: The above is likely not a comprehensive list of all tasks to be completed and other duties may be assigned based on skill level and current needs.
TIME MANAGEMENT: You should be able to use your work time efficiently and balance multiple tasks at once.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL: You should have an eye for detail and be able to accurately package orders and pay attention to special requests.
COMMUNICATION: You should be able to communicate respectfully and effectively with the rest of the bakery staff.
WORK INDEPENDENTLY: We expect you to be able to prioritize your daily list of tasks and know what needs to be done when you come in each day. While you will be working alongside others, this position will require a lot of independent work and responsibility.
A DESIRE TO SERVE: Working in food service, it is important to remember that we are often part of our customers’ big days and special moments – and they chose US to be a part of the celebration. With each order we produce, and each interaction, we should strive to delight and impress.

This is an hourly position starting at $13.50/hour plus shared staff tips.
